Pool Games

1. Sharks!

Location: Shallow end

Number of monsterz: 2+

Description:

Effectively a swimming pool version of tag or 'it'. One or two people become sharks with the objective of catching the other players who are in the water. Players are not allowed to leave the water. Once a person is caught they either stand or sit on the side of pool.

2. Waterpolo!

Location: Shallow end

Number of monsterz: 6+

Description:

Best played in the shallow end, unless your group is made up of strong swimmers! Play across the width of the pool with two targets, such as floatation board set on end, set up as goals at either side. (or proper goals if they happen to be handy). Rules can be improvised, but to simplify:

-Once a player holds the ball they cannot move, either they must try to score a goal or throw the ball to another player. All other players are free to move, but must remain in the water (including goal keepers).
-Play is continuous. Except if the ball goes onto the pool-side where it is handed to the nearest 'goalkeeper’ as a goal throw.
-Once a goal is scored the ball is given to the referee to be thrown into the middle as a `toss up’ between teams, or it can be given to the goal keeper of the side the goal was against.

Beach Games

1. Monster Surf!

Location: In the waves

Number of monsterz: 1-3+ (Great for adults too!)

Description:

This is probably our #No1 beach game. All you’ll need is a lilo and a day of good waves at the beach. Its really simple, take your lilo out into the surf and wait for that big wave. Then kick like crazy to catch the wave and ride it all the way back to the shore.

2. The Bucket Fill!

Location: On the shore

Number of monsterz: 1-3+

Description:

Split up into two teams (adults can join in too! Just be sure there are an even number of adults on both sides and the little monsterz and bigger monsterz are split up evenly on each team to make it fair). Have each team form a line by the shore.

Set up a buckets about 10 feet from the water’s edge. The object of the game is for each team to carry the water in their bare hands to the bucket. Once a player fills the bucket then the next player in line can grab a handful of water and race to the bucket and so on until the bucket is filled. The first team to fill the bucket wins!
